Marine
Biology Guests have now the opportunity to get information about the marine environment from a professional first hand. Demonstrations are given during diving and snorkeling as well as at the Bio-Station. A broad variety of biological topics is offered: coral reef structure and ecology, coral bleaching and recolonization, life history and morphology of corals, diversity of marine invertebrates, symbioses in the coral reef, fish families and their features, dangerous marine animals, adaptations to different habitats. On request, special microscopic communities like plankton and the meiofauna of submarine sands are demonstrated. The level of the presentations is for an interested, but not specialized audience. The informations can be consumed in a relaxed atmosphere, either out on the sea, in the shadow of coconut trees, or in the air conditioned Bio-Station. This little station is equipped with a Stereo-Zoom-Microscope, a library of field guides and specific literature, working tables, field and laboratory equipment like plankton net, sieves, petri-dishes etc., and a PC.
Beside
slide shows, the latest technology of presentation is used. Underwater
pictures are taken with a digital still-fotocamera. The pictures can be
demonstrated, explained and discussed in detail at the very same day. This
is done on a monitor or with a videobeamer in large scale presentation.
Learning
about the marine environment will give you a new quality of diving
experience. You will understand, what you have seen and you will see, what
you have overlooked until now. |
